Governing Body

The Governing Body (GB) is the supreme organ of the APO. It is composed of one government-appointed Director from each member economy. An Alternate Director is also designated by each member. The Governing Body meets annually to receive the Secretary-General's annual report and the auditor's financial report; decide on APO policies, strategies, directions, and membership; approve the rolling two-year plan and annual programs; lay down guidelines for the ensuing fiscal year's program; and approve the budget and financial guidelines. → Click here to view the APO Directory.

National Productivity Organizations

Each member designates a national body to be its National Productivity Organization (NPO). NPOs are mandated by their governments to implement productivity improvement programs and spearhead the productivity movement in their respective countries. The NPOs act as the APO's partner to plan and implement programs. The APO Secretariat therefore undertakes planning, preparation, coordination, and implementation of all APO-funded projects in close cooperation and consultation with the NPOs. Each year, the APO organizes a Workshop Meeting of Heads of NPOs (WSM) to evaluate the impact of previous year’s projects and conducts strategic planning sessions to formulate the rolling two-year program plan and detailed project line-up for the next year. The WSM also deliberates on productivity issues, guidelines for future programs, and economic developmental needs of member countries. → Click here to view the links to NPO Directory.

Liaison Officers

The NPOs also serve as the official liaison bodies with the APO Secretariat and coordinate productivity enhancing projects hosted by their governments. Each government designates Liaison officer to serve as the main contact with the Secretariat. → Click here to view the APO Directory.

APO Secretariat

The Secretariat is the executive arm of the APO and is headed by the Secretary-General. It has four functional departments: Administration and Finance; Research and Planning; Industry; and Agriculture. The Secretariat carries out the decisions and policy directives of the Governing Body. In collaboration with the NPOs, it plans and implements the rolling two-year plan and annual programs. The Secretariat also undertakes joint programs with other international organizations, governments, and private institutions for the benefit of its members. → Click here to view the list of Secretariat.
