In a significant diplomatic exchange, H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Botswana Major General Gotsileene Morake paid a courtesy call on Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Secretary-General Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata on 11 March in Tokyo.
Ambassador Morake informed Secretary-General Dr. Indra about Botswana’s National Mindset Change campaign led by President Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, highlighting its critical role in reshaping not just the working dynamics but the entire life attitudes of Botswana’s citizens, aligning perfectly with the philosophy of productivity improvement. The campaign builds upon Botswana’s efforts in digitalization and government alignment and is a crucial step toward unlocking full national potential. A delegation from Botswana would like to make a study visit to the APO Secretariat for an exchange of ideas on ways to catalyze the National Mindset Change campaign.
Secretary-General Dr. Indra warmly welcomed the Ambassador and expressed admiration for Botswana’s strong commitment to increasing productivity through mindset change, which is matched by government investment in physical and digital infrastructure. The APO has experience in supporting members in carrying out fundamental changes to achieve productivity growth through National Productivity Master Plans.
The discussions moved on to the potential synergies between Botswana’s national priorities and the APO’s mandate of promoting productivity and sustainable development. Both parties agreed to remain in close communication to explore possible avenues for collaboration in this crucial area.
The meeting concluded by underscoring Botswana’s keen interest in leveraging international partnerships to advance its national development objectives such as productivity. By seeking cooperation in the National Mindset Change Study Visit and highlighting the importance of transforming attitudes, Botswana reaffirmed its commitment to a brighter future through productivity improvement.
