APO and CPC Advance Smart Agriculture and Collaboration for Sustainable Growth

21 Nov 2024

The APO Secretariat and China Productivity Center (CPC) jointly organized a face-to-face project, the 2024 International Conference on Smart Agriculture, which was held from 10–13 September 2024 in Taipei, ROC. Implemented under the Technical Expert Services (TES) program, the project underscores the commitment to addressing productivity issues among APO members. The event brought together 204 participants from government, academia, industry, and trade sectors, focusing on key agricultural productivity challenges such as the aging population, labor shortages, climate change, and urbanization in the ROC.

One international resource person from Japan delivered a keynote speech, led two local field visits to Solar Farm Corporation in Yunlin and CH Biotech R&D Co. Ltd. in Nantou, showcasing advanced smart agricultural solutions, and engaged in on-site consultations and discussions. Participants also explored the ‘9th Smart Agriculture Week’ exhibition in Taipei, ROC, which featured 2,000 innovation products and solutions from 400 exhibitors across 20 countries. The project equipped participants with insights into technology’s role in addressing global food security concerns.

The conference strengthened international collaboration, encouraged holistic approaches, and highlighted national initiatives from Malaysia, Thailand, and the ROC. By promoting knowledge sharing and fostering global partnerships, the event directly supports the APO Vision 2025 goal of sustained productivity growth through smart transformation.
