APO Secretary-General Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata paid a courtesy call on Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan Mirzosharif Jalolov at the Embassy on Thursday, 11 April. The purpose of visit was to extend an invitation to Tajikistan to take part in APO programs as part of a wider effort to promote awareness of the APO among countries in Central Asia under the newly launched Establishment of a Fund for Nonmember Participation and Assistance.
Ambassador Jalolov welcomed Secretary-General Dr. Indra to the embassy and provided an overview of key initiatives in Tajikistan that tapped into the wealth of natural resources and abundance of hydroelectric power to accelerate industrialization. Secretary-General Dr. Indra greatly appreciated the introduction, which highlighted the commitment and ongoing efforts to harness Tajikistan’s potential and improve national productivity.
Secretary-General Dr. Indra introduced Ambassador Jalolov to the APO’s activities, with an emphasis on the selected conferences, training courses, and workshops that were open to participants from nonmembers such as Tajikistan under the new program scheme. The discussion also covered how Tajikistan could engage with the APO through resources such as online publications and e-learning courses, as well as potentially participating in online programs.
Ambassador Jalolov expressed interest in these opportunities and agreed to coordinate follow-up discussions between embassy staff and the APO Secretariat to discuss further details. The meeting concluded with a lively exchange on various productivity-related topics, with both parties agreeing to maintain contact after their productive dialogue.
