This P-Talk discusses biodigester systems that convert manure and other biowaste into biogas to provide households with clean cooking fuel, thereby reducing exposure to indoor pollution. The units result in decreased use of traditional fuel such as wood and carbon emissions. The bioslurry is then used as organic fertilizer for farming and reduces the water required for agriculture. The approach addresses the key Green Productivity themes of resource recycling, green energy, green factories, and agroinnovation. Shuvasish Bhowmick of ATEC Australia International also speaks on the impact of biodigesters on clean cooking, the health and livelihoods of women and girls, and reducing global greenhouse gas emissions.
