In this APO Productivity Talk, Prof. Patarapong from GRIPS of Japan will discuss his research results on the roles of public research institutes (PRIs) in driving innovation.

PRIs can solve today’s problems in existing industries and those of next-generation adopters of innovative technologies. The experience of five leading PRIs in Australia, the ROC, Germany, Japan, and the USA will be examined to understand specific arrangements that help them be effective.
