The APO Secretariat organized an online workshop on Social Resilience for Sustainable Societies from 31 March to 2 April. Its objectives were to deepen conceptual understanding of social resilience, learn about practical approaches and tools for enhancing community resilience, and examine successful cases of fostering resilience in rural areas.
Forty-two participants from 13 APO members attended this workshop, along with four resource persons, two each from Japan and Thailand. The workshop introduced theoretical frameworks and practical examples of social resilience in the contexts of rural development, environmental conservation, and disaster risk reduction. Participants actively engaged in discussions and exchanged thoughts, broadening their perspectives on how to strengthen community resilience in their member economies.
