Productivity Talk on 10 August 2021

Greening Tourism

The tourism sector, which provides employment to millions worldwide and contributes significantly to GDP in many countries, is one of the worst hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. While efforts are underway to bounce back to the prepandemic level, this pause provides an opportunity to reimagine and adopt concepts of sustainable tourism to grow greener and cleaner.

This P-Talk by Dr. Ravinder Nath Batta, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Government of Himachal Pradesh, India, will provide insights into environmental concerns and sustainability indicators related to tourism. Key components, promotion frameworks involving relevant stakeholders, productivity enhancement at community level, and positive impacts of green tourism on the economy and preserving fragile natural environments will be discussed. The P-Talk moderator will be Dr. Isimeli Waibuta Tagicakiverata, Director, National Training and Productivity Centre, Fiji National University.
