A productive meeting took place on 6 July between Indonesia Director General of Immigration Silmy Karim, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and APO Secretary-General Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata at the APO Secretariat in Tokyo.
Insights on various APO initiatives to improve public-sector productivity in the region were shared and discussed. Director General Silmy Karim was especially interested in APO capacity-building projects that would help the ongoing initiatives of the Government of Indonesia to increase public-sector efficiency by reforming and streamlining bureaucracy. He stressed the significance of establishing the right institutional settings for productivity improvement to ensure the long-term impact and sustainability of productivity initiatives led by the APO.
APO Secretary-General Dr. Indra pointed out that the APO takes a holistic approach in addressing productivity challenges in its members. Strengthening institutional capacity and designs are among the pillars of those endeavors.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Secretary-General Dr. Indra expressed gratitude to Director General Silmy Karim and accompanying delegates for their contributions to the discussions. He hoped that an open communication channel could be established for further exchanges of ideas and collaboration.
