Productive Livestock Farming for Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

22 Jan 2025

The National Productivity and Economic Development Centre, Nepal and APO Secretariat organized an online workshop on Productive Livestock Farming for Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from 3–5 December 2024. The workshop aimed to help participants learn about the latest innovations in livestock farming that contribute to the reduction of GHG emissions and understand policies and ecosystems to support the adoption of such innovations while also providing an opportunity to discuss how to disseminate and adapt them among APO members.

Twenty-five participants from 12 APO members learned about the latest policy developments, innovative technologies, and business models for reducing GHG emissions from livestock from two resource persons from Japan and one each from Australia, Nepal, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.

Participants praised the workshop’s relevance and confirmed the importance of this topic to contribute to addressing climate change while reconfirming the importance of improving animal productivity as a key driver to reduce GHGs from livestock.
