Sharing the sufficiency economy philosophy for sustainable community development

29 Aug 2024

From 31 July to 2 August, the Thailand Productivity Institute hosted a multicountry observational study mission in Bangkok, focusing on the implementation of the sufficiency economy philosophy (SEP). The mission was attended by 29 participants from 14 APO member economies to explore how the SEP, introduced by King Bhumibol Adulyadej, fosters sustainable community development.

Participants visited the Khao Hin Sorn Royal Development Study Centre and Kubota Farm, where they observed the SEP in practice in the agricultural and commercial sectors. They also explored nonagricultural applications of the SEP at the Chitralada Technology Institute and Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Co-operatives. The mission concluded with discussions on adapting SEP principles for sustainable development in participants’ socioeconomic contexts.
