The National Productivity Council, India, implemented a face-to-face multicountry observational study mission on the policy landscape for sustainable development from 26 to 28 March 2025 in New Delhi. The mission aimed to provide participants with insights into national strategies that enable climate change adaptation; allow participants to observe the implications of policies aligned with overall socioeconomic growth; and help them understand the nuances of a global and collective approach to sustainability.
Thirty-five participants from 10 APO members gained insights from four resource persons from India on regulatory frameworks for waste management, challenges and success stories in India, energy policy frameworks for transitioning toward a sustainable future, global climate change scenarios, and business responsibility and sustainability reporting frameworks. To showcase the implications of the emerging policy landscape, three site visits were conducted. The first was to a waste-to-energy plant called Timarpur-Okhla Waste Management Company Limited; the second was to the National Energy Technology Research Alliance, which focuses on energy efficiency, emission reduction, and carbon capture; and the third was to EverEnviro Resource Management Private Limited, which uses circular economy principles to convert construction and demolition waste and send it back into the market as raw material.
