Strategic Collaboration to Elevate Indonesia’s Productivity

19 Feb 2025

Indonesia’s Minister of Manpower, Professor Yassierli, engaged in comprehensive discussions with the APO Secretary-General, Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata, in an exchange held on 14 February 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The dialogue centered on formulating strategic initiatives to enhance Indonesia’s productivity and achieve its ambition of attaining advanced economic status by 2045. This collaboration underscores a mutual commitment to prioritize industrial advancements and human capital development, which are cornerstones of national progress.

Minister Yassierli emphasized the imperative of refining human capital to navigate the complexities of technological advancement and dynamic labor markets. He articulated that fostering a competitive workforce is essential for realizing the “Golden Indonesia 2045” vision. Recent economic data for Indonesia shows that the economy grew by 5.03% in 2024, reflecting steady progress but falling short of the targeted 8% required to realize the aspiration of becoming an advance country in 2045. This highlights the necessity for structural reforms and productivity enhancements to accelerate economic momentum.

Dr. Indra reaffirmed the APO’s dedication to supporting Indonesia’s productivity agenda, proposing the development of a comprehensive national productivity master plan and other endeavors to create a critical mass of productivity specialists in the country. This plan aims to improve efficiency and bolster human capital at the enterprise level, particularly within key sectors such as manufacturing. The APO’s recent engagement with Indonesian manufacturing and labor leaders who visited the APO Secretariat exemplifies the collaborative approach that strives to align industry priorities with national economic objectives.
