Training Course for Assessors for the Green Productivity Specialists Certification Program

10 Jun 2024

The National Productivity Council, India, hosted a face-to-face training course for Assessors for the Green Productivity Specialists Certification Program, 22–26 April in New Delhi. The course aimed to develop qualified, competent assessors for APO-accredited certification bodies (CBs); familiarize participants with the APO-GPS 201:2023 Requirements for Green Productivity (GP) Specialists; and impart the methods, criteria, and competencies required by assessors to conduct assessment of GP certification candidates.

The APO Certification Body Development (CBD) Program continuously develops NPOs and their affiliated organizations to become APO accredited CBs to operate certification schemes of Productivity and GP Specialists. Through this training course, 20 participants from 10 APO members were equipped with the necessary skills and competencies required by assessors to conduct assessment of GP certification candidates. Three resource persons from India, Malaysia, and Singapore shared knowledge and skills with participants through presentations and group exercises on the APO-GPS 201:2023 Requirements for Green Productivity Specialists scheme including verification, examination, desktop assessment, interviews, and report evaluation of candidate GP specialists.

In his inaugural address, Joint Secretary Sanjiv, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, emphasized the crucial role of GP in sustainable development and climate change mitigation. He stressed the importance of assessors in upholding standards and driving the adoption of sustainable practices in various industries.
