Welcome to the Gemba video series of the Asian Productivity Organization. In Japanese, “gemba” literally means “actual place” but generally refers to a specific site where work is carried out. These videos show good practices at production sites in Japan.
The theme of this video is “Creating a Kaizen Culture.” The ideal situation for kaizen is bottom-up (employee-initiated) suggestions proactively generated from the gemba. This video introduces a Japanese dairy company that establishes mechanisms for continuous improvement, creates a kaizen culture from scratch, and promotes employee-initiated activities.
