Title Recent Trends in Performance Management Systems in the Public Sector in Asia
Author(s) Dr. Noore Alam Siddiquee
Description Public-sector organizations in APO member economies are under pressure to enhance service quality while maintaining accountability, transparency, and productivity. Good governance and new public management have spurred reforms to improve performance, focusing on measurable outcomes at all levels. However, low targets and distorted outcomes can undermine the goals, and so 360-degree feedback systems are crucial for good governance, resource efficiency, and better public services, despite their operational challenges. The report highlights trends, challenges, and the need for continuous adaptation in public-sector performance management.
